Christmas

Picture
Let me think, all I want for Christmas... a cure for diabetes? Happiness for my friends and family? A horse? a cell phone? A cat? All the chocolate Santa could ever get his hands on? ect. anyway, I know a lot of people (kids mostly) are excited for x-mas. I, am one of those people! I love the holidays! I made almost all of my gifts this year (I hope my family likes them!) My A1C  is something like 6.5 or 6.4. I know, great right! So today, I let myself enjoy a nice bunch of cookies! Woohoo! I know it probly wasn't smart, but it's a little to late for that! Hope everyone has

Too tired.

I'm so tired! I can't think strait!
I just got back from... drum roll please ...Camp Carefree! The best diabetes camp in the world!
No, really, I had the best time anyone could hope for. I had Arts and Crafts where I did weaving and bracelets and ti-die, I did swimming every day! I had two hikes which were the bomb, the counselors show and the campers show were awesome, awards night was funny (I got the 'Greatest Crystal Light Mustache' award),  and so much more!
I just want to thank the Lions Club and my auntie Jeanne. Cause without them, I would have never made it!

Hot hot hot

You know whats really weird? Finding out that heat has made my blood sugar stay perfect! Yep, Perfect. Tonight (Unexpectedly) I'm going to be picked up by my aunt, then tomorrow we're gonna be hiking, swimming and zip-lining... And I can't wait!

Yey! Birthday! Yey!

Picture
July 1st 2010

Hey, guess what? I'm a year older now!
Birthdays are fun, but all the more better with friends, books and going out for tacos and high carb stuff when you know you shouldn't! Taco bell... yum...

And the worst thing about birthdays for me now, is that with having diabetes, you really shouldn't have cake, I mean, REALLY. It messes you blood up, like up to 300/340. But you can have ice cream cake!

Sorry! Been busy

I think I'm a-getting sick. And you know how much I love what it does to my Blood Sugar. Speaking of which, my blood has been all over the place. From 274 to  75. Weeeee.

April 29th 2010

Yey! This morning my mom got an E-mail, it said my A1c level was 6.4! And now I am so happy! It's like getting an A on my pop quiz. That means all the Carb counting, calculating and forgoing cake (Which really messes up my blood sugar) has payed off.

No rain during vacation please!

Picture
April 27th 2010

Does anyone else feel disappointed?
I mean, the weather was all nice here in NH. But now, it's cold and rainy! Ugh!
Well, what ever.

I just went to the doctor today. They haven't told me my A1c yet. But I can't wait! Last time it was 7. And that's not bad... but I would love it to be, 6.5, or even better.... 6! 6 is a normal persons' A1c. And that would be great. In other news. Even though I'm diabetic, I still hate getting blood drawn. But apparently, every year, since I'm diabetic, I have to get my blood drawn. And today was my (un) lucky day!
On the plus side, I got a Loony Tunes band-aid!

Green lawn, green day

Hey! Everyone that is out there: you are awesome! I have had like, a ton of people here so far! I love it! The warm weather is so weird! I love it! It's the best. And tomorrow is earth day! WOOT! Everybody go green!

Vacation! PLEASE!

Picture
April 19th 2010

I feel so much better and my blood glucose has been fine. I think I'm ready for a vacation though. I mean, my whole family needs one. I just yelled at my brother last night. I think it was my blood, and the fact that, it has been so nice out, and I've been stuck indoors doing school work.
I can't wait though. It's April, and I'm going to have a vacation soon! YEA!

Sick stinks.

Picture
You know what? I hate being sick. That's right I'm sick today. And I'm hating every second of it. My throat hurts, my right shoulder and the right side of my neck hurt. Also I have a headache, and a runny nose. UGH. Well, you know what? I'm still alive. OH NO! Now I have that song stuck in my head. DX

Oh well, I'm feeling better then I did this morning. And my mom. Don't get me started on my MOM! Oh my god, I was fast asleep and apparently she kept calling and calling the house, and I wasn't answering. So she freaked out, and came running over back to our house. So I wake up to her yelling, 'MAY?!' I woke up and rubbed my head. Then she yelled again, I heard her running through the house and grabbing my diabetes stuff. 'MAY?!' She yelled louder. 'Yeah?' I yelled back. She came running up the stairs and she started crying, explaining why and everything. Ugh.

Diabetes camp

Picture
I'm just fine now though.  I'm gonna go to Diabetes camp this summer. The camp is called, Camp Carefree. I can't wait! It's so exciting! My Godmother is helping with the expenses and I'm so grateful! I can tell it's going to be loads of fun! If you want to look at the website to where I'm going, here it is:

How it happened

Picture
Hiya! My mom told me to make a blog about my having type 1 diabetes, so, here it is! I got diabetes April 15 2009, so It has almost been a year! I don't have a pump, I just inject my self at every meal and such. It was a Wednesday I think, when I went to the doctor and they drew blood to check and see if I had diabetes. Well I did. And that very night, I had to go to the hospital.
My mom was going crazy! We got to the hospital and they called my name almost as soon as I sat down!
We got up and walked to the first patients room to the left, and they told me to lay down. So I did and my mom and dad sat next to me on a bench (my brother was still home!). The nurse came in and told me, 'you blood glucose is 630.' They gave me two IV's. 'One for drawing blood, and the other for pumping stuff into you.' The nurse told me. 'Great.' I said rolling my eyes. (I use to be deathly afraid of needles!) So I stayed there for a little while before my mom got up and walked over to the bathroom. On the way there the nurse stopped her and said, 'were gonna need to transfer her to a different hospital that knows more about dealing with type 1 diabetics and children. But if we can't find an ambulance that can come here with in 45 minutes, then we'll have to get her there by helicopter.' When my mom got back, she looked white, and after she told my dad and I everything, my dad said something along the lines of, 'well if she goes in the helicopter I wanna ride shotgun, same for if she rides in the ambulance.'
In the end I rode in an ambulance.

So I got into the ambulance, right? Well there was a man in the back with me that was taking my vittles and all that stuff. He told me to try and get some sleep. Well I was tired (it was about 11:00 at night), but I was also starving and I was worried to. Sleep, ya right.
We got to the hospital and I was still on the stretcher so they rushed me in and put my in one of the rooms down on like, the first floor. It was very close to the place where the ambulance was parked. Now only my dad had come with me in the ambulance ride and my mom wasn't aloud. So my mom went back to our house, told my brother what was happening, and then rushed to Childrens' hospital as fast as the speed limit would let her.
She arrived in my hospital room around midnight or so. I slept in that room the rest of the night, and then in the morning, I was still hungry but they said my blood glucose was still to high to give me any food just yet. So they moved me to a different room that was very nice. It was big and it had a bench in the window for my mom or dad to sleep and then another chair so that they could sit there and be with me.
The next morning they let me eat! I was so happy! I ate and ate and ate! Nom, nom, nom!

That's only part of the story...
